Empowering cities and local governments towards sustainable and inclusive urban and territorial food systems transformation

The recently issued Note by High Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition (HLPE-FSN) on the Critical, Emerging and Enduring Issues for Food Security and Nutrition identified “strengthening urban and peri-urban food systems in the context of urbanization and rural transformation” as one of the seven key issues.

The event will focus on the empowerment of cities and local governments to transform urban and local/territorial food systems, addressing the issues of governance and the links between national and local actions. It will also explore how national governments, regional and global bodies, fora and platforms can create an enabling environment for local governments and actors to make a fundamental contribution to sustainable food systems transformation.
