Corporate Capture of African Agriculture

The Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung in cooperation with the Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA) has released a new video clip, Corporate Capture of African Agriculture, available here: https://www.rosalux.co.za/multimedia/corporate-capture-of-african-agriculture

The video shines a light on the mounting threats to African food and agricultural systems as powerful multinational corporations take over the sector with support from wide-ranging actors including African governments and initiatives such as the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA). State policies that support narrow agricultural growth strategies based on Green Revolution input subsidies for artificial fertilisers, hybrid seeds and pesticides are benefitting the multinational corporations that supply these inputs. They disadvantage farmers and destroy the environment. The corporate capture of food and agricultural systems must be challenged to turn the tide.

The second in a series of short videos illuminating important themes in our documentary film, The Last Seed, produced by the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung in association with AFSA, Biowatch South Africa, and PELUM Tanzania.

We would greatly appreciate it if you could please share our Corporate Capture of African Agriculture video clip widely within your network and across your social media platforms.
