On 20 September 2021, the DSI-NRF CoE in Food Security partnered with local NGO groundWork, Healthcare Without Harm, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and international food systems change agency Global Alliance for the Future of Food to convene an Africa-Region Rountable to deliberate on opportunities to align nutrition and agroecology advocacy networks.
Over 30 network leaders from across Africa, gathered in two rounds of lively debate. Participants included Civil Society representatives, academics, and government officials from countries including Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia.
There was great appetite for change, and delegates identified numerous opportunities for deeper systems transition to promote health and environmental sustainability. Several participants expressed an interest and energy in developing a joint call to action for networks across Africa to mobilise in solidarity around these two goals. Watch this space!
